Lux Aeterna, Morten Lauridsen
March 13, 2020, 7:30pm
Central Presbyterian Church, Denver, CO

Colorado Repertory Singers is thrilled to continue its annual Educational Masterworks collaboration with local high school choral programs. Over the past three seasons we have partnered with over 300 high school musicians, working together to present large-scale masterworks for choir and orchestra in acoustically rich venues. These educational collaborations are driven by our mission to support music education, foster lifelong singing and create intergenerational experiences focused around the musical arts. For the 2019-2020 season we are excited to focus our energies on a piece by contemporary American composer, Morten Lauridsen – Lux Aeterna (‘Light Eternal’). Lauridsen’s Grammy-nominated work for voices and strings has become a beloved part of the choral canon and has been performed by ensembles around the world since it’s appearance in 2005. We are, once again, honored to present this season’s educational masterwork at the historic Central Presbyterian Church in downtown Denver.

Music from the Screen & Stage
May 15, 2020, 7:30pm
May 16, 2020, 2:00pm
Broomfield Auditorium, Broomfield, CO

The world today is filled with music that has made its way into modern day culture through the screen and the stage. Many of the tunes we find ourselves humming during our daily routines were originally composed for movies, musicals and theatrical productions. Additionally, a wide variety of music has been engaged by directors and producers alike to help bring stories to life for today’s audiences. This not only includes pop songs and Broadway show tunes, but also classical, jazz, folk and multicultural music. Far more than whimsical melodies, many of these tunes have engrained themselves into our lives in powerful and meaningful ways. They are the songs we listen to and sing that help us endure, heal, love, reconcile, mourn and rise. Colorado Repertory Singers is excited to present some of these treasured pieces from the screen and stage.
